NZCCL and Modcom (Portable Buildings)
The Flooring Room was proud to deliver this commercial fit-out in partnership with NZCCL and Modcom (Portable Buildings). With no designer or architect involved, we had the creative freedom to push the boundaries of a typical commercial space, bringing a unique, playful concept to life.
Working closely with the client, we developed a ‘Tetris’-inspired design using three shades of grey carpet tiles to create subtle movement and interest throughout the office. The muted colour palette provided a stylish foundation, giving the client room to express personality through other design elements in the fit-out.
The project involved approximately 250 m² of carpet tiles and 100 m² of vinyl. Installation was staged over three weeks and carried out by a small, skilled team. Despite the compact footprint, the job called for a careful approach to layout and sequencing to ensure the geometric design aligned perfectly.
Without the constraints of a traditional design brief, this project was a chance to get a little creative, and even more rewarding to see the final result match the original concept.
