How do I choose the right product?

The Flooring Room stocks all New Zealand’s best flooring products.  There is no one product which is right for everyone.  Choosing a product can be confusing, and it’s an important and long lasting decision that you must get right.  Our team of Flooring Consultants have decades of experience in the industry, and based on your specific needs will be able to advise you on the best products for you.  Give us a call for a free no-obligation assessment – you can even book one online here.  This can be done at our showroom or in your home.  We even have colour consultants who can assist with decisions in keeping with your wider renovation / build project.

How long will my flooring take?

While every job is different, most homes can be completed in 1-3 days depending on the level of floor preparation required. Our Flooring Consultants know what’s involved so give us a call and we can talk you through it.

Lead times vary throughout the year.  We ideally like to have about three weeks notice to secure your preferred installation date but we will do everything we can if you are in a rush. Note some products come from overseas so the earlier you can book us in the better . November and December is our busiest time where installation can be fully booked many weeks in advance.

How do I prepare for my new flooring?

Our Flooring Consultants can talk you through timing, installation logistics, and answer any questions you may have.  Typically, our install team needs to have clear space to work – with all furniture etc moved out, and floor spaces clear.

There is a lot to think about so its best to speak with one of our consultants who can assist you with all questions.  Things to consider include disconnection of electrical appliances, the need for doors to be trimmed.  We are happy to move large items of furniture etc for you, however this needs to be agreed in advance as there will be an additional charge for this. You will still need to move smaller items, strip beds, clear wardrobe floors etc and disconnect/reconnect electrical equipment such as computers/stereos/TVs.

As we take Health and Safety at The Flooring Room seriously we ask that little people and pets are kept clear of our install team and work space.

How do I care for my new flooring?

Taking care of your new floor will ensure you get to enjoy it for many years to come. Simple things like regular cleaning, putting feet protectors on chairs and tables, or using curtains to minimise fading are great ways to ensure your floor lasts longer.

Some products do have specific requirements, and we can advise you of those during your selection.  These requirements may include your floors ability to resist stains, weight of furniture, scratch marks (eg enthusiastic dogs), heels, water, and how to best remove stains.  If you ever have an accident (during the lifetime of your new floor) just give us a call and we can advise you on the best solution

It’s also important to note your flooring product warranty offered by the manufacturer requires that you follow product care and maintenance instructions. You can find these care guides here for your easy reference.
