Starting from the ground floor as a shop assistant and working his way up to store management and national commercial management, Richard is now the Owner / Operator of The Flooring Room Palmerston North. As the second generation in his family to grow up with a love of flooring, Richard has over a decade of experience in residential and commercial flooring – and a reputation for attention to detail that he shares with his team. Richard lives on a lifestyle block on the outskirts of Palmerston North with his wife Ange, and their two daughters.
Richard Owner
Richard is second generation carpet industry and has almost 20 years experience working across both residential and commercial flooring. Through his career in flooring, Richard has worked from the ground up – from Shop Assistant, to Store Management and also National Commercial Management. Richard believes nothing is more important that having a great team enabled to deliver great service. Richard owns and manages The Flooring Room Palmerston North, and lives on a lifestyle block with his wife Ange and two daughters.
Nathan Operations Manager
Nathan is The Flooring Room’s Operations Manager which means he co-ordinates the installers and ensures our team is on time – every time. It’s a big job but with over 18 years of flooring experience and a ‘get stuck in’ attitude, he’s up to the task. Nathan is not only passionate about flooring, he also has plenty of time to crack a joke along the way. Outside of work, he has recently put an extension on his man cave so that his ever-growing collection of power tools also have a home.
Angela Residential Sales Manager
Angela brings over a decade of experience in residential flooring sales, paired with a genuine passion for working with people. She is dedicated to creating a stress-free flooring experience, helping customers to make confident, informed decisions for their homes. Outside of work, Angela enjoys spending time with her family and exploring new places.
Janis Flooring Consultant
Introducing Janis! Janis has been with The Flooring Room since we started, and has many years of experience as a Flooring Consultant. She’s always up for a challenge, whether it’s a big project in flooring, or pushing herself in fitness (biking, swimming, and running). Design is another big passion of hers, seeing outstanding results and happy customers is what has driven her during her time in commercial and residential flooring.
Kylie Flooring Consultant
Born and raised in the Manawatu, Kylie comes from a creative background and has a keen eye for interior design.
Having built and renovated multiple homes for herself, she has a deep understanding of how flooring choices can transform a space. Kylie joined our team as a showroom consultant, and has since moved into our residential team.
Outside of work Kylie can be found in the garden or at the beach with her husband, two daughters, and Millie the labrador.
Holly Flooring Consultant
Holly joined The Flooring Room with experience in the residential building industry (sales and project delivery) and a Diploma in Interior design. Holly believes in fantastic customer service through deep product knowledge, along with a great sense of humour!
At home, Holly is a mum to 3 gorgeous boys and a puppy Zeus (another boy). Outside of work you will find Holly running around after the boys, walking the dog, heading to the gym, chilling out to music (with a gin in hand), and spending time with the family
Carly Commercial Flooring Consultant
Carly has a background in the building industry, a passion for customer service and a drive to achieve the best possible result for your floor. Originally from the Hawkes Bay Carly has been in the Manawatu for the past 12 years and may be a familiar face to those of you in the building industry. Carly’s life outside of The Flooring Room is kept very busy with her 2 legged and 4 legged family. With home renovations underway, a partner in speedway, kids and pets, the weekends are never long enough!
Selwyn Commercial Flooring Consultant
Selwyn has decades of experience in the flooring industry (actually about 25 years!) and is passionate about flooring. Selwyn's experience extends across all types of flooring, with extensive experience in managing long term commercial flooring relationships.
Selwyn was born and bred in the Manawatu and is spare time loves a bit of gym time and snooker.
Shane Commercial Flooring Consultant
Shane brings many years of Flooring experience to the Commercial Team at The Flooring Room. Shane has a huge amount of experience in both installation and operations. This experience combined with his passion for getting things done right first time makes him a trusted partner to our many Commercial Flooring clients. Give him a shout – for a serious chat about all things commercial flooring.
Kent Warehouse Manager
Kent is The Flooring Room’s Warehouse Manager (Storeman), he organises and checks incoming and outgoing product, cuts carpet ready for the installers, Tests and Tags commercial equipment and is the punching bag for Nathan (Ops Manager). He is fairly new to the industry, and enjoys working hard making sure that the warehouse runs smoothly. Outside of work, he enjoys sport, coaching basketball, trying to play golf and snowboarding when he can.
Sue Administrator
Sue is relatively new to the Flooring industry but she has a wealth of experience (over 20 years!) in accounts and administration.
Outside of work time Sue is all about family - and loves getting out and about with my children, biking, walking and exploring.
